Renovation in exchange for lower rent ?

That's right! I thought this was a pretty fantastic read on the NY Times website. (One of my favorites)! Talk about a renovation decision (in a rental) that is worth your while!

With the economy being so shaky these days, Todd & Marlene Capron decided to renovate a run-down apartment in Prospect heights, Brooklyn all by themselves in exchange for a rent reduction for their landlord. Now that is a deal! Here are pics of the reno, but you can read all about this genius idea here!

I love how they brightened the walls behind the mantle! So, what do you think of renovation in exchange for rent reduction?

Lori Levine's gorgeous NYC home. (NY Times)

I love the NY Times website and lately I've been thinking more & more of moving back to NY. Buying an apartment there & enjoying the city life once again. I realize NY real estate is very pricey $$, so I'm open to other areas like Williamsburg, Park Slope or Long island City. Perhaps a high rise with wonderful amenities like concierge & a gym!

Anyhow, I currently own 2 homes in this depressing Las Vegas market, so unless I can sell them, I may have to stick around here for awhile. I just miss NY, my mom & dad live there, so I consider it my home. I came across this amazing place, owned by Lori Levine, right in Manhattan....! You can read more about Lori & hear her talk about her home on video here. Do any of you live in New york?? How do you like your place??

Deeply Madly in LOVE with this place

I came across this website via Blink Decor. The site is called Deeply Madly Living and is owned by a NYC couple. They sell lots of wild and unique things. I enjoyed the site but noticed they also had been featured in the NY Times (which i love!). I
was even more impressed with their living space! They own an amazing loft in NYC that i believe cost $2.1 million....thats right! My dream is to own a town house or loft in NYC.....what a dream that would be. Anyhow here are some of the lovely shots of their place and the awesome Chesterfield sofa and chairs! Have a nice weekend!!
