Kim Yu-Na

Kim Yu-Na (born September 5, 1990 in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do) is a South Korean figure skater.

She is the 2010 Winter Olympics champion in ladies singles, and the 2009 World champion, the 2009 Four Continents champion, a three-time (2006–2007, 2007–2008, 2009–2010) Grand Prix Final champion, the 2006 World Junior champion, the 2005–2006 Junior Grand Prix Final champion and a four-time (2002–2005) South Korean national champion.

Kim is the first South Korean figure skater who has medaled at an ISU Junior or Senior Grand Prix event, ISU Championship, or Olympic Games. She is one of the most highly recognized athletes and media figures in South Korea. She is the first female skater to win all of the ISU World Championships, the ISU Grand Prix Final, the ISU Four Continents Championships and the Winter Olympic Games.

As of February 2010, Kim is ranked first in the world by the International Skating Union (ISU). She is also the current record holder for ladies in the short program, the free skating and the combined total under the ISU Judging System. She was the first female skater to surpass the 200-point mark under the ISU Judging System.

Monk's professional music career began in 1999 when she responded to an advertisement at the recommendation of her mother which requested girls with vocal and dance experience. The advertisement was for the Australian television series, Popstars, a TV talent show which aimed to create a successful new girl group. Monk, who has been trained in classical and pop singing and has been performing since she was eight years old, drove all night to audition. In one audition, she performed a rendition of Marilyn Monroe's famous "Happy Birthday, Mr. President", working on her previous experience as a Monroe impersonator at Warner Bros. Movie World. After numerous rounds of singing and dancing workshops, Monk was selected as a member of the group, which was named Bardot.Bardot became the first Australian act to debut at the #1 position with both its debut single, "Poison", and self-titled debut album. Further singles "I Should've Never Let You Go" and "These Days" followed and in August, the group embarked on its first national tour. Bardot performed at the 2000 ARIA Awards at which they were nominated in three categories.

In July 2001, the group released "ASAP", the first single from their second album. Bardot now had more control over their music and image. The single peaked Top 5, as did follow-up single, "I Need Somebody", their most successful single since "Poison". The second album, Play It Like That debuted at #16, achieving gold status. Monk co-wrote the album track "Feel Right" with fellow bandmate Sally Polihronas. Housefull is an upcoming Bollywood Indian film being directed by Sajid Khan and starring Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta and Randhir Kapoor. Ritesh Deshmukh and Jiah Khan will play important roles in the film. The film's shoot has been progressing for several months in London. The production team have also filmed portions of the film in Italy.

The film is directed by Sajid Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiawala. A romantic comedy entertainer, ‘Housefull’ is the story of normal people caught in abnormal situations sparked off by a white lie. The film starring talks of the world’s unluckiest man trying to find true love to change his luck. Akshay, doubtlessly, plays the protagonist. Both director Sajid Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala feel number 9 is lucky for them. The title of Sajid’s first film Heyy Babyy added up to the number 9. Talking about the promo, director Sajid Khan says, “It’s a sheer co-incidence but its true 9 is lucky for me. A trailer is meant to excite audiences enough to get them talking about the film. But as a maker you definitely do not want to give away too much of the story. I’m sure the audiences will enjoy the promo.” In this quest for true love how one lie leads to another and how different people from different walks of life come together adding even more confusion to this hilarious comedy of errors resulting in total chaos and mayhem. Alaina's Home Tour (Live Creating Yourself)

Hello everyone! How's your Monday so far?? It's been cloudy & sprinkling here in Las Vegas, definitely very unusual weather for this part of the country. However, this post below has made my day a little sunnier! I'm so excited to bring you this home tour by Alaina from Live Creating Yourself.  She has allowed me to share her cozy Chicago home with all of you!  Below she explains the details of her lovely living space.

"I've been collecting pieces for the past two years. The only store-bought, full-priced items my boyfriend and I bought that are not from IKEA are the vertical bookshelves in my office. They are from West Elm and no longer available. Same goes for the tree branch end table in the living room which is from Target and is available. The West Elm tripod lamp in the living room was a gift from a friend. The rug and sofa in the living room are ALSO from West Elm, but we bought them used on Craigslist. Other rugs are IKEA and the zebra rug in the bedroom was on sale at Pottery Barn."

Dining Room & Living Room:
The dining room chairs cost me $70 - I painted them grey and reupholstered them myself. The dining room table is an antique & cost only $50 - also CraigsList. The bar is IKEA Expedit.  


Most pillows and accessories are West Elm sale items with a few thrift store items thrown in the mix. The place settings are a mix of Williams-Sonoma Apilco Traditional and West Elm Pure Square.

The conspiracy that deceived us all

It's 4am and I'm lying in bed hit by an urgent need to blog this. On my berry that is.

See just a few minutes ago I wanted to look at my hair. It's swiftly becoming my favourite asset because it's the most attention-grabbing thing that's growing from me. Granted it's tortured with loads of chemicals to turn it this colour but still... Gorgeous.

So basically to take "looking at my hair" to the next step I used two mirrors to see how an admiring person standing behind me will view my hair (lucky them!).

And it struck me that not only is it chio, it's bloody long!! It has - finally - hit my waist!!!

I'm officially one of those girls with waist-length hair!! Together with water nymphs and sirens and angels etc. (Poor village people not counted. Do they use serum? No. Anyway they probably just put on wigs when the discovery channel people come along. Duh. Poor AND zero integrity)

So anyway my point is that my hair is long!

And WHY is it long???

U may think the answer is so silly even those village people can answer it.

It is coz I haven't cut it in AGES!!

Simple... But yet... Due to a lie that has swept the world, most girls will tell u that long, healthy hair only exists coz of REGULAR TRIMMING.

Regular trimming my sweet ass.

Lies!!!

Trimming does not, I quote most people, cut away the split ends so the hair can grow.

Rubbish. My hair. Waist. 1 year no cutting. 'Nuff said.

So here's my theory of how this conspiracy came about. One day, a dumbshit girl decided to cut her gorgeous long hair short thinking she will look spunky and refreshed.

Instead she just looked like a boy and nobody wanted to fuck her. So she went crying to her hairdresser and said, "I'm so bloody sad coz I used to be the pretty one in the group and now it's Jenny because her hair is all swishy!! Boohoohoo!!"

And she continued, hiccupping, "I just wish every other girl also would have short hair... By the time mine is long jenny's will be LONGER!! Boohoohoo!"

So the hairdresser had an epiphany and said, "Wait a min... I think I might have a solution!! That would benefit BOTH me and u!"

The next day when swishy Jenny went to the salon, the evil hairdresser then told jenny that she needs to "trim her ends" so that it will grow faster, longer, healthier!

Coz this would mean Jenny would keep coming back for trims, and that's business!!

"Are u sure?" said Jenny, "It seems highly illogical that I should be cutting something I wanna grow..."

The hairdresser used hair jargons (follicles!! R2D2!! Etc!!) and Jenny believed him.

So centuries passed and the myth that trimming hair aids hair growth ballooned to enormous severity.

Smarter girls who know the truth (like me) but are less nice are also helping to spread it.

Queen bitch had a bad haircut? She's also probably telling friends they have split ends and need a trim. Can't slim down gotta make 'em all fat!!

Girls who complain their hair never grow long? Also the idiots who "trim".

Girls with fab long hair DO NOT cut!!

(Instead they go for treatments and apply generous amounts of serum)

So yes, I'm letting u in on the secret of a lifetime!!

No matter what a hairstylist says, do not cut your ends if u wanna grow out your hair! It's a biz trick!

Girlfriend tries to persuade u to take an inch off? Don't hold back - punch her in the ovaries. How do u like that now, bitch? Friends don't sabotage friends to get "boycuts", aka "instant desexifier".

Now you may think that this blog entry is ridiculous and that there is plenty of proof/evidence/sciencey shit that shows hair grows faster with trimming.

Well that's coz you are either taken in by the lies spun by centuries of hairdressers who pay PR people to conjure nasty fake statistics and bribe scientists to lie...

OR

You are one of those nasty girls who have ugly hair. Well sux2BU but seriously girl, go buy a wig and stop sabotaging the rest of us, yo.

Yes, you all may be weeping, reeling in the fact you have been deceived for years but shitloads of ill-meaning people.

But now you know better.

Ok I got this off my chest. You know what's also on my chest? My gorgeous long hair! Which I'm not gonna trim. Coz trimming is for dumbfucks.

From Sketch to Shoe to Rejection

This shoe is one of my favorites and it's not being made. It happens way more often than I'd like unfortunately.

We rely on stores like Nordstrom and Macy's because without big orders, shoes just don't get made. That means that shoes that don't "fit in" at Nordstrom or Macy's don't usually get bought by their buyers.

Well apparently this shoe didn't fit what they think their customer would like. It's the nerdy shoe with a great personality that nobody picks to be on their team in P.E. cause she's not the cheerleader shoe. Don't worry nerdy shoe, the cheerleader shoe will peak early in life and get pregnant her first year of junior college.

Ummm. Ya.

It starts with an idea-

I saw this vintage lucite heel (that is not my wrinkly thumb) and thought it was so pretty and could be very Betsey.

Then, there was this Charlotte Olympia shoe that was such an amazing shape...

Based on these two things, plus the other ideas I had for a group of vintage inspired shoes, I drew a sketch...

I thickened the heel shape and changed the platform a bit. I added a sweet little bow as a maryjane strap.

Then after a trip to China and a few prototypes, the real deal was finished!

Pretty awesome! :)

Unfortunately... we won't see it in stores. They didn't think you'd like it/buy it. Maybe they're right but I wish they would have tried.
