Kimberly Noel "Kim" Kardashian (born October 21, 1980) is an American celebutante, socialite, television personality, producer, actress, and model. She also is the daughter of late attorney Robert Kardashian. She is widely known for a sex tape with her former boyfriend Ray J and her E! reality series which she shares with her family, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Since then, Kim has launched multiple fragrances, guest starred on numerous shows and competed on ABC's Dancing with the Stars. She also has had roles in movies such as, Disaster Movie, and Deep in the Valley.

Kim's recent projects include launching another perfume line and working as the producer of an E! reality series, The Spin Crowd. Kim also is involved in multiple projects with her sisters, Kourtney and Khloé including writing an autobiography entitled "Kardashian Konfidential" and launching their own fashion line.

Early life

Kardashian was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of late attorney Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner (née Houghton). Kim is a fourth generation Armenian American. Her paternal great-grandparents immigrated to Los Angeles from historic Armenia (then part of the Ottoman Empire, now in Turkey). Kim's last name in Armenian (spelled Քարտաշեան in Armenian) means "son of a stonemason." Although only half Armenian, she states she was raised with a huge Armenian influence, always hearing Armenian stories, eating Armenian food and celebrating Armenian holidays.

Kardashian has two sisters, Kourtney and Khloé, and one brother, Robert. She has stepbrothers Burton Jenner, Brandon Jenner, and reality TV star Brody Jenner, stepsister Casey Jenner, and half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

She attended Marymount High School. During high school, Kardashian worked at her father's music marketing firm, Movie Tunes.

Career

Her first acting role was in the television series Beyond the Break. She then starred in the 2008 disaster film spoof Disaster Movie as Lisa. Kardashian appeared in the How I Met Your Mother episode "Benefits". She will appear on the Season 3 premiere of the series 90210 with her sisters Khloé and Kourtney. They will play themselves. According to E! Kim makes $5.545 million a year.

Kardashian is one of the stars of the reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians along with her two sisters, mother, brother, half-sisters, and stepfather.

Dancing With the Stars

Kardashian was one of 13 participants on the seventh season of Dancing with the Stars. She was partnered with current DWTS champion Mark Ballas. Kardashian was the third contestant voted off the show on September 30, 2008, finishing in 11th place overall.

Spin Crowd producer

Kardashian is the producer of SPINdustry, a reality television show about Command PR, a New York City public relations firm, run by Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck. The show follows them as they settle into their new offices in Los Angeles. Kardashian is friends with both, specifically Jonathan, and frequently appears on the show.


Kourtney and Kim Take New York

A show titled Kourtney and Kim Take New York is set to debut on January 23, 2011. The show will follow Kourtney Kardashian as she leaves Los Angeles once more, this time followed by sister Kim, to open a third D-A-S-H store in New York". The show is the second spin-off of the show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the first being Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami.

Guest appearances

Kardashian was guest hostess of Wrestlemania XXIV. Kardashian appeared as a guest judge during Cycle 13 of America's Next Top Model.

She also made a guest star appearance on CBS's CSI: NY with Vanessa Minnillo on December 16, 2009.

Kardashian appeared at the 2010 MTV VMAs on September 12, 2010. Kardashian posed nude for the December 2007 issue of Playboy. She has also featured in numerous international editions of FHM, including the cover of the April 2010 Australian edition . In February 2008, Bongo Jeans announced that Kardashian would be their face model. Kardashian is also a model for Travis Barker's Famous Stars and Straps clothing line. On April 9, 2009, Kardashian released a workout DVD series, Fit In Your Jeans By Friday, with trainers Jennifer Galardi and Patrick Goudeau.

In July 2008, Kardashian announced on her blog that she was working on her own perfume line to be released in 2009. The perfume, Kim Kardashian, was released into U.S. stores in February 2010. The perfume was released in Canada on May 4, 2010.

In March 2009, Kardashian launched an endorsement with ShoeDazzle shopping. Kim Kardashian is the co-founder and chief fashion stylist for ShoeDazzle.

Famous Cupcakes, a Los Angeles bakery, created a vanilla cupcake mix for Kim Kardashian. The cupcake flavor is called Va-Va-Va-Nilla.

Kardashian also creates jewelry along with her sisters, Khloé and Kourtney. The trio released a jewelry line for Virgins, Angels, and Saints. The 20 piece collection debuted in March 2010. The jewelry reflects on the Kardashian's Armenian heritage.

Kardashian co-owns a clothing boutique called D-A-S-H with her sisters Kourtney and Khloé. In the spring of 2010, she and her sisters released a clothing line for Bebe.

In August 2010, Kardashian announced that she and her sisters will release another clothing line. The clothing line is called K-Dash and it will be sold on QVC. K-Dash will be released on September 10, 2010.

Kim Kardashian and her sisters created a sunless tanner called Kardashian Glamour Tan. It was released in Summer of 2010 and is available at Sephora.

Book

Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé are writing an autobiography entitled Kardashian Konfidential. The book will be "full of fun facts about their childhood, their beauty and style secrets, the wisdom they learned from their beloved father, and the street smarts they got from their mother that sustain them in life and in business.” The book will be released in stores on November 23, 2010.

Music

In December 2010, Kim filmed a music video for a song titled "Turn It Up", the video was directed by Hype Williams; Kanye West makes a cameo in the video.. Kim premiered the song during a New Year's Eve party at TAO Las Vegas on December 31, 2010.. The song was produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. Kim said that she was forced into doing the song by pals like Ciara, Kanye West, and "Turn It Up" producer The-Dream. When asked if an album is in the works, Kim replied: "There's no album in the works or anything -- just one song we did for Kourtney and Kim Take New York, and a video Hype Williams directed, half of the proceeds we're giving away to a cancer foundation, because The-Dream's and one of my parents passed away from cancer. It's just all having fun -- with a good cause".

Personal life

In 2000, Kardashian married music producer Damon Thomas; their relationship ended in divorce in 2004. She dated R&B star Ray J in 2007 but later in that year she began dating NFL star Reggie Bush after they met at the ESPY Awards. The couple split at the end of July 2009. On September 29, 2009, E! stated that Kardashian had visited Bush. "[Khloé's] wedding made her miss him, so she flew to see him". According to their reality show, they began dating once again in October 2009, although they split again in March 2010. She dated Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin up until August 2010. She later admitted that she and Austin were indeed dating. The couple split in September 2010. She was later spotted with model Gabriel Aubry in November, but by December, they too had split. As of December 28, 2010, she is currently dating NBA player Kris Humphries of the New Jersey Nets.

Cookie Diet lawsuit

Dr. Sanford Siegal, the creator of the Cookie Diet, sued Kardashian, claiming she defamed him on Twitter. According to Siegal, Kardashian tweeted in October that he was "falsely promoting" that she was on the cookie diet. Siegal filed a claim in a Florida state court claiming the statements are false and defamatory. He also alleges that Kardashian was on QuickTrim's payroll when she posted the tweet. Kardashian's tweet appears to stem from an article on CookieDiet.com, a site with no connection to Siegal, that named Kardashian as one of many celebrities who saw positive results on the diet. Kardashian sent a cease-and-desist order to Siegal, demanding the link be removed.

Sex tape

In 2007, a pornographic home video she made with her then-boyfriend, R&B singer Ray J, was "leaked". Kardashian sued Vivid Entertainment for ownership of the tape. Kardashian later dropped the suit and settled with Vivid Entertainment for $5 million.

Activism

On April 1, 2010, Kim Kardashian joined Cyndi Lauper in the launch of her Give a Damn campaign to create a wider awareness of discrimination against the LGBT community as part of her True Colors Fund. The campaign is to bring straight people to stand up with the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered community and stop the discrimination. Other names included in the campaign are Whoopi Goldberg, Jason Mraz, Elton John, Judith Light, Cynthia Nixon, Clay Aiken, Sharon Osbourne and Kelly Osbourne.

However, she has also been on the receiving end of activism. Animal rights organization PETA has criticized her for repeatedly wearing fur coats, and named her as one of the five worst people or organizations of 2010 when it came to animal welfare.

Kim Kardashian to stay single

All the single ladies...all the single ladies! Welcome Kim Kardashian to the world of singledom. Yes it's true. After dating such high profile men as Reggie Bush, Miles Austin, and Gabriel Aubry, Kim has decided to take some time for herself and stay away from relationships for awhile. Good for her! The reality star states that she wants to stay single through her whole thirtieth year. Will she succeed? That remains to be seen.

Kim herself doesn't know if she is up to the challenge. She told US Magazine, “I've made a promise to myself and I'm really trying hard to stick to it, but I'm such a hopeless romantic that it's hard. I don't think that's going to last, because that's just how I am. But the fact that I'm trying is a big step for me!"

Meanwhile the food in New York has taken its toll on Kim. She gained 10 lbs. there, but she is not pregnant. It's the pizza that did it. Now in a break from filming, she is back at the gym to maintain her svelte self. Looks like she is making over her romantic life as well as her physical one.

Good luck Kim. Spending some time on yourself without getting too serious with a love interest is a great way to spend a year.

Kim Kardashian's found a new guy to keep up with: Halle Berry's model ex Gabriel Aubry. A pal tells UsMagazine.com that the duo, who were spotted flirting at Sunday's L.A. Lakers game, are the real deal.

"They met through friends and have been dating a few weeks," says the source. "It's sexy!" Adds the insider, "They decided to step out together at the game."

The hot Gucci model, 34, is not the first guy the reality star, 30, has been linked to since splitting with Reggie Bush in March. After a summertime romance with football hunk Miles Austin, Kardashian has been dating casually -- including a few recent nights out in NYC with singer John Mayer.

Aubry, meanwhile, has been laying low since he and Berry, 43, ended their four-year relationship in late April, although he and the Oscar winner spent some time in Paris with daughter Nahla, 2, in August. Berry has since gotten cozy with her Dark Tides costar Olivier Martinez.

The budding romance has already gotten a thumbs up from Kardashian's pal Jonathan Cheban. "I can't wait to hear all about it," the SPINdustry star told Us at a Lorraine Schwartz event Monday night. "I hope they're together so I don't have to go to football games anymore!"

The finale episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" is finally here. After a season of new love, heart break and family feuds, the E! reality family closes out season five of their hit show with a bang.

Leading up to the emotional episode on Sunday night, Kim stated that she is excited to see" what is probably my most open and vulnerable episode when it comes to my personal life."

But Kim is feeling a little conflicted about some recent statements regarding her questionable behavior in the upcoming show.

As viewers will see tonight, Kim and Reggie will engage in a very tense phone conversation about her new romance. But Kim has received some negative attention for exploiting such a personal interaction. Kim is now coming forward to defend her decision to share this call with the public.

"Reggie and I were in a relationship for over 3 years and we have taped dozens of conversations and iChatted many times while filming, so this is nothing new or scandalous," Kim explained in a Sunday blog entry. "Reggie is my friend, and whether or not, we are in a relationship, he is someone I care about. With that said I live my life on a reality show and to let you guys into my life, I show as much as I can. This episode is my most emotional and most vulnerable and it takes a lot to put yourself out there the way I did."

Once the show airs tonight, the internet is sure to be buzzing about the dramatic episode. And Kim is confident that things will finally make sense to her critics. "I think once you watch the episode you will really see that I in no way put anyone on blast! We are sharing a small bit of my personal life. Clearly so much more has gone on between us that no one hour episode can cover."
