The hollywood actress Alyssa Milano to co-star in ‘Ghostbusters’ game

Alyssa Milano ain’t afraid of no ghosts — or filling Sigourney Weaver’s shoes. The 36-year-old “Charmed” actress is starring alongside the world’s most famous paranormal exterminators in “Ghostbusters: The Video Game.” The upcoming action game, written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, features the original film’s cast sans Weaver.

“Obviously, fans of the movie are going to miss Sigourney Weaver,” said Milano, who was offered the part of the game’s leading lady after Weaver declined to reprise her role as Dana Barrett. “I have so much respect for that character in the movie that I hope I do the position that she is in justice. I was just flattered to be asked to be part of ‘Ghostbusters’.”

In the game, players become a “Ghostbusters” recruit who assists the original team to take down ghastly foes like the ginormous Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and god of destruction Gozer. Milano said she spent one day in the studio voicing the character of Dr. Ilyssa Selwyn, the brainy guest curator of a “World of Gozer” exhibit at the Natural History Museum.

“It’s a little tricky because you have no idea what it will look like,” said Milano.

The game from publisher Atari is scheduled for release June 16 for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Wii and PC. Set after “Ghostbusters II,” Aykroyd, Ramis, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts reprise their roles from the original 1984 film and the 1989 sequel about a group of eccentric New York City parapsychologists.
