Both releases of this week have received extremely negative reports for its content. Mission Istanbul followed a very outdated storyline and treatment in the guise of a film based on terrorism, while it actually ended up being a brainless action potboiler. Despite a multi-starrer cast (Govinda, Aftab Shivdasani, Celina Jaitley, Upen Patel, Hansika Motwani, Manoj Bajpai, Ravi Kishen), Money Hai To Honey Hai was a non-starter from its first show and ridiculed for its inanity. While Mission Istanbul can maximum stretch itself to a couple of weeks, Money Hai To Honey Hai has flop written all over it.
Meanwhile, in absence of strong contenders, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na continues to do good business. A new song (title song in Sukhwinder Singh’s voice) was added to the prints for only one week to work as an added attraction and impart some novelty factor to this universal hit. Kismet Konnection, too, continues to work with the family and NRI audiences.
Next week’s release Ugly Aur Pagli holds a lot of promise for its interesting casting (Mallika Sherawat – Ranvir Shorey), unique storyline (dominating girl, submissive guy) and the youthful charm and witty humour quotient reminiscent of PNC’s previous attempt Pyaar Ke Side Effects.
